Unless it's done very carefully, I think enemy scaling is a bad idea in games like this. Dead Island seems to do an okay job of it. Thugs kill me in 3 hits no matter my level. Enemies generally take the same number of hits to kill. No big deal. except one minor little issue I have. Healing doesn't scale!

The reason your using broken knuckles is so you do as little damage as posible. By lv 45 each punch gives you 545 exp, giving you 50 to 60 k per tug. On low lv tugs, my guess is 1 or 2 lv per tug. So far this is the best way to farm exp, to my knowledge.
